TRIPLE HOMICIDE SUSPECT ARRESTED IN IDAHO
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Date: May 10, 2008

Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen today announced the suspect in Monday night’s triple homicide at the Patricia Plaza Apartments was taken into police custody last night in Lewiston, Idaho.

34-year old Robert L. McCoy was arrested at approximately 9:15 p.m. (Bossier City time) by officers with the Idaho State Police and the Lewiston Police Department. He was taken him into custody at a trucking terminal after investigators learned he had hitched a ride with the driver of an 18-wheeler and was traveling in the northwest United States. McCoy was arrested without incident. The weapon believed used in the Bossier City homicides was also recovered from inside the truck’s cab. The truck driver was unaware McCoy was wanted for triple murder and on the run from police.

Investigators working the case in Bossier City obtained information that lead Idaho authorities to McCoy’s location. It’s believed McCoy was headed to an undisclosed location in California.

Investigators learned McCoy fled Bossier City on the night of the murders by hitching rides that took him to Texas, Arkansas, Washington State and then to Idaho.

Efforts are now underway by the Bossier District Attorney’s office to extradite McCoy back to Bossier City where he faces three counts of first degree murder for the shooting deaths of 55 year old Christine Colston, 50 year old Willie Ray Young and 17-year old Gregory Colston.
